NC State head coach Dave Doeren
Opening Statement
“I told them that I’m proud of them for battling; they battled all week. I thought we played for each other and thought we played really hard. For whatever reason we’re not finding the one play that it takes to break a game open like that and if they stay together we will find that play. We got a lot better in one week.”
On RB Matthew Dayes
“He played hard and the guys played hard for them. He broke a lot of tackles and did a good job of taking care of the football.
On kicker change in first quarter
“I did want to give Kyle (Bambard) another chance. I thought he would make the next one and I told him that I’d give him another shot at it and told Connor (Haskins) if he doesn’t make it he’s in. Connor did a great job taking advantage of the opportunity.”
Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher
“I’m really proud of our football team. That was an extremely hard-fought game. We had to make a play to win at the end of the game. The team battled, fought scratched and clawed. North Carolina State did a great job. I said going in, they’re a good football team. I knew they would come out here guns blazing at home. Coming off a three-game losing streak I knew they would be tough to play. They always play us well and they did. I’m very proud of our team and the way they competed, made plays and played the game. The defense did one heck of a job on that last stand to make a play and do what they had to do.”
“I think that was a huge for us. I hope we can continue to build. We learned to make one more play today. No matter who you play in this league, you better be ready to play. I think it’s a tough environment and a good place to play. The young guys just keep getting better and better.”
“I’m very proud of them and we need to get ready to go quickly for a Friday night game versus Boston College.”
