RALEIGH, N.C. – The Maxwell Football Club today announced its watch lists for the 82nd annual Maxwell Award today, with NC State starting quarterback Ryan Finley among those named.
Finley returns for this third season as the Wolfpack's starting QB. After 26 games at NC State, ranks fifth in school history in career passing yards (6,577), fifth in completions (555), fifth in attempts (881) and seventh in touchdown passes (35). His career mark of .630 ranks second in school history only to Philip Rivers.
Last season, he ranked 10th in the Power 5 and second in the ACC in passing yards with 3,518 - the fourth-best single-season mark in school history.
Earlier this offseason, Finley was named a Columbus Touchdown Club Player to Watch for 2018.
The Maxwell Award, named in honor of Robert W. "Tiny" Maxwell, has been given to America's College Player of the Year since 1937. Maxwell's contributions to the game of football were extensive, including time as a player, a sportswriter and an official.
Semifinalists for the Maxwell Award will be announced October 29, 2018, while the three finalists will be unveiled November 19, 2018. The winners of the 2018 Maxwell Award will be announced as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show held on December 6, 2018. The formal presentations of these awards will be made at the Maxwell Football Club Awards Gala hosted by Tropicana Hotel & Casino Atlantic City on March 8, 2019.
