The NC State track and field team wrapped up its three-meet weekend with second days of competition at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Virginia Challenge.Â
MT. SAC RELAYS:
NC State's sprinters returned to the track Saturday afternoon at the Mt. SAC Relays, beginning with the men's 4x100m relay. Cravont Charleston, Quashawn Cunningham, Shannon Patterson, and Dylan Peebles crossed the finish line in 39.61 to record the ACC's fastest 4x100 mark of the season.
Charleston, the defending ACC Outdoor Champion in the 100m dash, clocked a personal-best 10.22 at Saturday's meet. His time moves him from 10th in school history to third. It is also the third-best time in the ACC this season and is tied for 18th nationally.Â
Gabriele Cunningham ended the Wolfpack's time in California with an 11.61 in the 100m to place 14th.Â
VIRGINIA CHALLENGE:
Lauren Evans picked up NC State's only podium finish of the day as she posted a season-best mark in the shot put Saturday afternoon with a 52' 1.75" (15.89m) throw. Her performance ranks third in the ACC and was good for a gold medal at the Virginia Challenge.Â
On the track, Alexis Postell ran a 14.02 PR in the 100m hurdles, putting the Wolfpack freshman at fourth on the program's list of all-time performances in the event.Â
Tiana Patillo clocked a 24.34 in the 200m to place eighth at the meet. The race keeps her at No. 6 on NC State's all-time list and bettered her time as she established a new PR.
Edwin Rutto secured an ACC Outdoor Championships berth in the 1,500m with a 3:47.89 PR, and Megan Rempel led the way for the Wolfpack women in the event, improving her already-set conference qualifying time with a 4:22.38 1,500m PR.Â
The evening ended with the men's 5,000m, where all three of NC State's men put up personal-best performances. Patrick Sheehan was the Wolfpack's top finisher, placing fourth in 13:57.09, a 16-second PR. Elijah Moskowitz (14:02.96) took 14th and qualified for the ACC Championships with his time, and Joe Bistritz (14:05.75) placed 19th.Â
