SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The NC State softball team dropped its doubleheader with Syracuse on Saturday afternoon at Skytop Softball Stadium. The Wolfpack fell in the first game 3-1 and game two 2-0.
The Pack moves to 22-24 (5-14 ACC) and the Orange improve to 25-18 (7-11 ACC) on the season.
How It Happened
Game One
-Haylee Kobziak put the Pack out in front in the first inning with a solo shot to left center.
-The Orange knotted the game in the third inning. A walk and wild pitch put a runner at second, and an RBI single up the middle brought the runner across home plate. 'Cuse scored two more runs in the frame on a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch and bases-loaded single through the left gap to take a two-run lead.
Game Two
-'Cuse struck first in game two, scoring a run in the second inning. A one-out single to third base put a runner on, but she was out at second on a 6-4 fielder's choice. A walk put two on base, and a Wolfpack error allowed the runner from second to cross home plate.
-NC State threatened in the fourth when Jade Caraway drew a leadoff walk and advanced to third on an error, then Kobziak singled to right field and advanced to second on the play. A pair of strikeouts and groundout to third ended the side though.
-The Orange brought in their other run in the sixth. A one-out bunt single and single through the left side put a pair of runners on, and a two-out single down the left field line allowed the runner from second to score.
