ATLANTA – The NC State softball team dropped its series opener at Georgia Tech on Friday evening, 3-0. A 2-RBI single in the first and a solo home run in the fifth allowed the Yellow Jackets to take the first game of the weekend at Mewborn Field, as the Wolfpack falls to 14-10 (2-4 ACC), while the Jackets improve to 15-8 (4-0 ACC) on the season.

How It Happened
-The Jackets scored two runs in the first inning on Lilly Hooper's 2-RBI single up the right field line. After a one-out walk Draven Sonnon reached on a fielder's choice, and Katie Krzus's double to the left center wall started the threat.
-With two outs on the board, Georgia Tech extended its lead in the fifth inning as Sonnon hit a solo shot to center field.
-In the seventh the squad tried to rally as Chandley Garner led off with a double to left center, but the next three batters were retired in order.

Inside The Box Score
-Devin Wallace (8-5) threw her sixth complete game of the season as she struck out six and gave up five hits.
-Chandley Garner led the team at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance, as she hit her second double of the season to left field
-Cheyenne Balzer led off the second inning with a double to left center, her fourth of the season, while Compton tallied a base hit in the team's combined four in the game.
-In the third inning Compton and Balzer recorded the team's seventh double play of the season when Compton fielded a ground ball, tagged second and made the throw to Balzer to first to end the frame.
