The Wolfpack sophomore owns the ACC's top 3,000m mark
RALEIGH – NC State distance runner Elly Henes has been named the ACC Women's Track Performer of the Week, as announced by the conference office Tuesday afternoon. It marks the first time in her NC State track and field career that the Wolfpack sophomore has garnered weekly honors.
Henes competed in the 3,000m Elite at the Camel City Invitational Saturday, crossing the finish line in 9:11.95 and finishing as the top collegiate runner in the race. The time is a personal best, and it is also one of the nation's top marks, standing at first in the ACC and ninth in the country.
Henes has continued to impress for the Wolfpack this season, as she has already posted ACC Indoor Championships qualifying marks in three different events. In addition to this past weekend's performance, Henes also holds a top-10 5K time after recording the second-fastest mark in program history at the Boston University Season Opener in December.
