
Women’s Golf Finishes Fourth At Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate

NEW ORLEANS, La. – The NC State women's golf team concluded play on Tuesday at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, finishing fourth out of 17 teams with a three-day total of 893 (+29).
With nine other teams among the top 50 of the latest GolfWeek rankings in the field, the Wolfpack shot a 13-over par 301 on the final day of play. Florida (873, +9) captured the team title while Southern Cal (882, +18) and Michigan State (888, +24) round out the top three of the team standings.
Cecily Overbey collected the third top 10 finish of her career, as she finished in a tie for eighth with a three-over par 219 (69-75-75). Naomi Ko also logged a top 20 finish, the 10th of her career, as she posted a seven-over par 223 (76-73-74) to tie for 17th in the individual standings.
"What a great opportunity it was to play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl this week," said Overbey. "Our team was able to finish well against some highly ranked teams on a course we've never seen before. We have a lot to look forward to the rest of this championship season!"
"I think our team did a great job hanging in there this week," said Ko. "It was a tough course but I think it was a course that will help us prepare for our conference championship that's at Sedgefield Country Club. I think we all learned a lot about our game and what we need to work on for our next tournament."
Laura Kowohl finished in a tie for 32nd with an 11-over par 227 (77-74-76), while India Clyburn finished two strokes behind Kowohl with a 229 (73-80-76) at T40th. Mim Sangkapong finished in a tie for 56th as she concluded the second tournament of her Wolfpack career with a 16-over par 232 (76-76-80).
NC State returns to action March 5-6 when it competes in the Wildcat Invitational in Tuscon, Ariz.
