
Wolfpack Set For #ACCMSD Championship

ACC Championship Central
RALEIGH – The NC State men's swimming team will look to capture its fourth-consecutive ACC Championship when it heads to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the ACC Men's Swimming Championships from Feb. 21-24. The meet will be held inside the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Winning the Championship would mark the first time since 1982 the Wolfpack has won four-straight ACC Championships in men's swimming & diving.
The four-day championship meet will begin Wednesday with the the 200 medley relay at 4:00 p.m. and the 800 freestyle relay at 5:20 p.m. From Thursday through Saturday, prelims will commence at 10 a.m. and finals will begin at 6 p.m.
Season Rewind
NC State went undefeated during the season; it opened the season with wins over Penn State & Duke in a tri-meet on Oct. 20, 2017 then followed up with a 147-39 victory over Wisconsin on Oct. 27, 2017. It then defeated reigning national champions Texas 176-116 on Nov. 10 then captured a first-place finish at the Ohio State Invitational from Nov. 17-19. The Wolfpack wrapped up the dual season with a 193-100 win over Virginia on Jan. 19 and a 186-108 triumph over UNC-Chapel Hill on Jan. 26.
Scouting the Competition
In the latest (Jan. 31) TYR/CSCAA poll several ACC teams were featured in the top-25. Louisville were #14, Notre Dame were #19, Virginia tech were #20, Florida State were #21 and Virginia were #23. Georiga Tech also received votes.
2017 ACC Championship Recap
The Wolfpack won its third-consecutive ACC Championship and it's 27th in program history.
In total, the team won an outstanding seven individual events, four relay titles and had 30 top-eight finishes. It marked the first time in 35 years the Wolfpack had won three-straight conference championships - the last time it was accomplished was in 1980-82.
This Time Out
The Wolfpack enter the Championships with 21 top-16 sseds, 20 of which are inside the top-eight. Fifteen are seeded first overall.
Several individual event winners from last season return including Ryan Held (50, 100 freestyle,100 butterfly), Andreas Vazaios (200 butterfly, 200 IM) and Anton Ipsen (500 freestyle).
Wolfpack Diving
Men's diving took place last week during the women's ACC Championships and the points accumulated by the divers contribute to the men's team scores. James Brady finished third on three-meter and sixth on one-meter to contribute 51 points. The Wolfpack was also represented by Stewart Spanbauer and Holt Gray.
