RALEIGH – After picking up a pair of wins against B1G opponents last weekend at home, the NC State softball team (5-4) will host in-state opponent Elon (7-3) Wednesday in its first midweek game of the season. First pitch is slated for 4 p.m. at Dail Stadium and the game will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State opened its home slate last weekend when it played host to the 2018 ACC/B1G Challenge. The Wolfpack earned one win apiece over No. 22/21 Ohio State and Northwestern, who was receiving votes in last week's national polls, as the Pack played each team twice over the weekend.
The Pack defeated the Buckeyes 5-4 in eight innings on Friday and earned a 4-2 win over Northwestern on Sunday. The squad dropped a pair of hard-fought games on Saturday, falling 5-4 to Ohio State in extra innings and 3-1 to Northwestern.
ALL-TIME SERIES
NC State and Elon have met 19 times, as the Pack owns an 11-8 advantage in the all-time series. Last year NC State traveled to Elon and earned a 9-0 run-rule win.
SCOUTING ELON
After suffering a doubleheader sweep against Charlotte to open its season, Elon has won seven out of its last eight games. Last weekend the Phoenix hosted a tournament at Hunt Softball Park, posting a 4-1 record. On Feb. 14 Elon hosted UNC-Chapel Hill, who was receiving votes in last week's national polls, and earned a 2-1 win.

NC State has hit just two home runs so far this year, but both have been grand slams as freshmen Chandley Garner and Timberlyn Shurbutt have belted one apiece.
