Cunningham, Hidlay, and Maize Named December Heart of the Pack Winners

RALEIGH – Quashawn Cunningham (track and field), Hayden Hidlay (wrestling), and Akela Maize (women's basketball) have been named the December 2017 winners of the Heart of the Pack award, the NC State Department of Athletics announced on Monday.

About the Heart of the Pack Award
The Heart of the Pack award is new for the 2017-18 academic year and recognizes the accomplishments of Wolfpack student-athletes who consistently demonstrate the following criteria:
Â
Teammate – exhibiting selfless sacrifice to benefit the team.
Effort – consistently giving a great effort.
Attitude – demonstrating a positive and can-do attitude.
Mindfulness – being aware of how you impact those around you and your environment.
Â
Student-athletes in every sport will be evaluated and nominated on a monthly basis. The voting process for these awards will be handled by the Pack Performance Team, which is an interdisciplinary team that works collaboratively with coaches and student-athletes to help maximize performance and meet their goals. The team, led by NC State's Senior Associate AD for Sports Administration & Student Services Raymond Harrison, consists of professionals from the following disciplines: Strength & Conditioning, Sports Medicine, Academics, Sports Nutrition, Sport Psychology, and Student-Athlete Enhancement and Leadership.
