Wolfpack Opens 2018 Competition at Carolina Cup

RALEIGH--The NC State track & field team is set to continue its indoor schedule Saturday as it makes the short trip to Chapel Hill, N.C. to compete at the Dick Taylor Carolina Cup at the Eddie Smith Field House. The meet pits the Wolfpack against a group of in-state competitors in Duke, East Carolina, and host UNC-Chapel Hill.

Fifteen NC State athletes will make their season debuts at the Carolina Cup, including four who are competing with the Wolfpack for the first time.

LAST TIME OUT:
Throwers Lauren Evans and Joshua Davis participated in the Hoosier Open hosted by Indiana University in December. Davis took home gold in the men's weight throw, notching a mark of 69' 4.25" (21.14m) on his second attempt of the day. Evans finished the meet in fifth place in the women's weight throw, with her best throw coming in at 62' 6.75" (19.07m). She recorded a top-ten finish in the shot put as well, placing ninth with a mark of 46' 0.75" (14.04m).

ACC HONORS:
Davis and Evans each took ACC Field Performer of the Week awards for their performances at the JDL College Kick-Off Classic and the Hoosier Open. Davis set a JDL facility record in the weight throw and achieved first place at both meets. Evans participated in the weight throw and shot put, placing in the top ten in each event. Her first-place weight throw of 67' 8" (20.62m) at the JDL College Kick-Off set a new personal record and was the second-best mark in program history.
