Hill Advances to Third-Straight IAAF Men's 5K Final

Wolfpack great Ryan Hill placed fifth in his preliminary heat of the men's 5,000m to automatically qualify for his third-straight 5K final at the IAAF World Championships.
LONDON – Former Wolfpack standout Ryan Hill has automatically qualified for the 2017 IAAF World Championships men's 5,000m final after placing fifth in his preliminary heat Wednesday night at London Stadium. The Hickory, N.C. native clocked a time of 13:22.79 in the opening round of the men's 5K.

It will be Hill's third-straight appearance in the IAAF World Men's 5K Final. He placed 7th overall in 2013 (Moscow) and 5th in 2015 (Beijing).
One of the most decorated athletes in NC State history, Hill earned 10 All-American and 11 All-ACC honors during his tenure with the Wolfpack (2008-13). He currently owns all-time program records in the men's 1,500m (3:38.36), mile (3:54.89), 3,000m (7:43.08) and 5,000m (13:43.52).
The IAAF men's 5,000m final is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 12 at approximately 3:20 p.m. ET. The race will be nationally televised on NBC and will also be available online at NBC.com.
