MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Brittany Marchand, a former member of the NC State women's golf team (2011-14), earned her first career win on the Symetra Tour on Sunday at the PHC Classic with a 13-under 203.
She shot a bogey-free 68 (-4) in the final round at Brown Deer Park to win by three shots. After a one-under 71 on Friday, she carded 13 birdies and one bogey over the final two rounds.
The win earns her a spot in The Evian Championship, the final major on the LPGA schedule from Sept. 14-17. The top two finishers at the PHC Classic earned spots. Her victory also bumped her from 41st to 17th on the Volvik Race for the Card money list.
"It's a really special moment," the second-year pro said in an interview after she won. "I know that I have the ability and I know it's in me, it's just really cool to see it shine through."
