#PackCamp Profiles Practice 8: Specialists

Raleigh - On the heels of a lengthy Sunday that included morning practice, team photos, media day, and the Meet the Pack Day, the NC State Football team was met with inclement weather conditions on Monday morning, causing practice to be moved indoors.

While this could be perceived as a hindrance to some, it presented a golden opportunity for the Wolfpack's kickers and punters to get in some valuable work in undesirable conditions - something they are likely to be met with over the course of the season. It also fit right in with head coach Dave Doeren's desire to put his players in every possible situation they may meet during games in practice.
"Any time you can get outside and work in the wind, it allows you to build confidence for those situations during games" said A.J. Cole III. "After we began indoors, we moved outside. We've played in near hurricanes before, so it all helps."

Along with getting in valuable reps in the wind, the Wolfpack also worked on the fundamentals: making sure the snap is accurate, making sure the hands are soft on the catch and that the ball is caught in the right place. All the little things that add up to a punt that lands deep in enemy territory, or a clutch field goal that puts the team over the line.
While Cole and Kyle Bambard are the most well-known of NC State's specialists, several newcomers have also stood out to their veteran teammates.
"We've got Carson Wise, Trenton Gill and Noah Giroux who are all new" said Cole. "They're kicking the ball really well, and are looking really good."
