How exciting was it to open the season over the weekend?
"It was awesome to be at home for opening weekend and have the home-court advantage with all of our fans coming out. It was great to play in that environment and have so much support surrounding us."
How do you think the first weekend went for you and the team despite the results?
"Even though we didn't have the outcome that we wanted, we improved a lot over the weekend and built confidence in who we are as a team. We definitely got better in our process and what we've been working on in practice with our system. We grew and took some steps closer to being ready for conference play."
How have the first two weeks of school gone?
"They've gone pretty well. It's nice to have a structured schedule now with class in the morning and practice in the afternoon, but that also means that I can't just focus on volleyball as you can during the preseason. It hasn't been too bad, just balancing my time."
What's your favorite class this semester?
"Anatomy and physiology. I'm taking it with a couple teammates and it's a very relatable science course. A lot of studying to do, but the lab is very interesting and I think it will be fun to learn more about it."
How excited are you to go to Puerto Rico this weekend?
"I'm super excited to go to Puerto Rico! I've never been, so that's a bonus but I think we're going to play two great teams in Florida and Auburn. It will be a great challenge for us and I'm really excited about it."
How does it feel to be able to go to Puerto Rico and Italy in the same year?
"It feels awesome. I'm incredibly blessed to be a part of this program and have these opportunities that I wouldn't be able to have at other places. I count my blessings every day that I get to travel the world with my teammates and play the sport I love."
Describe the trip to Italy.
"The trip to Italy was really fun. It was a lot to do in a little bit of time. We got to see a lot of different places and different cities. It was cool to be around different cultures and engage with the volleyball teams in Italy. Getting to see and take pictures of everything was awesome."
What was the best part of the trip?
"The day we went to Porto Venere was the best. We ended up swimming in the Mediterranean Sea, seeing the cliffs and the weather was beautiful."
Had you ever been to Italy before?
"No, I had never been before."
How does it feel to be a junior?
"It's crazy. It seems like just yesterday I was one of the new freshmen and now I'm a junior, but it's really cool. I'm glad I'm not a senior just yet, but it's an interesting dynamic having more of a leadership role to help the underclassmen."
What are your goals for the season?
"As a team, we want to go to the NCAA Tournament and finish among the top of the ACC. Every day we're working towards those goals to be the best that we can in the conference. Individually, I'm ready to take on any role that the team needs me. I want to be more of a leader to help our team achieve our goal of making it to the NCAA Tournament."
