HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. – NC State's diving team had three members compete this past weekend at the USA Diving Zone A Championships inside the Huntersville Family Fitness and Aquatic center. The event was held June 27-July 2 and showcased some of the top diving talent on the east coast.
Harrison Mitchell (1M/3M), Madeline Kline (1M/3M) and James Brady (10M) represented Raleigh's Red Wolf Elite Diving Club. Mitchell, a senior, finished on one-meter with a score of 269.95, improving to 13th after finishing 14th in the prelims. Kline, a sophomore, took sixth in the one-meter competition with a 225.75 after finishing seventh in prelims with a score of 215.10. Brady, also a sophomore, won the men's senior platform event with a score of 378.20 to break the school record.
Thanks to their stellar performances on the boards, Brady and Kline both qualified for the USA Diving National Championships in August. This marks Kline's first-ever senior berth.

"I don't know if this would count," said head diving coach Yahya Radman of breaking the record. "I would imagine that we would need to be in the NCAA season to count this performance as a record breaker, but what do I know. I know that we came here with process-oriented goals, and the results spoke for themselves. I am happy to see us moving the program in this direction. The foundation that we set here is being noticed by some of the top clubs and coaches in the zone, and the excitement is contagious."
The Pack will next head to Columbus, Ohio, to compete in the 2017 USA Diving National Championships inside the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion on Ohio State's campus. Kline will compete in the women's one-meter prelim at 12:00 p.m. on Aug. 8, having both prelims and finals on the same day. Brady will take to the platforms on Aug. 10 at 9:00 a.m. for prelims and semifinals, with the finals being held Aug. 12 at 9:00 a.m.
