RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State cross country program has released its schedule for the 2017 season, as announced by head coaches Rollie Geiger and Laurie Henes.

The Wolfpack's 2017 slate begins with NC State's only home meet of the season, the adidas XC Challenge. The meet is set for Friday, Sept. 15 at the WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
At the 2016 adidas XC Challenge, Wolfpack returners Rachel Koon, Bianca Bishop and Megan Vaughn each placed inside the top-15 overall as the Pack women took home the team title. The NC State men placed second overall at the home meet, led by returning lettermen Ben Barrett (12th), Patrick Sheehan (13th), Aaron Thomas (17th) and Wyatt Maxey (21st).
Following the home meet, NC State will head to the Midwest for the Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday, Sept. 29 in South Bend, Ind. The Pack men and women earned 11th and second-place finishes, respectively, at the 2016 Notre Dame meet.
Two weeks later, the Wolfpack contingent will split up for three separate meets on Friday, Oct. 13. NC State will have entries in the Nuttycombe Wisconsin Invitational (Madison, Wis.), the Wake Forest Invitational (Kernersville, N.C.) and the ECU Pirate Invitational (Greenville, N.C.).
The Pack will begin postseason competition with the 2017 ACC Cross Country Championships, scheduled for Friday, Oct. 27. The University of Louisville will host the conference meet at the historic E.P. "Tom" Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Ky.
The NC State women will look to repeat as conference champions in 2017, led by returning All-ACC performers Koon, Wesley Frazier, Alyssa Rudawsky, Elly Henes and Ryen Frazier. On the men's side, All-ACC returnees Sheehan and Barrett are set to lead the Pack, who finished third overall at last year's conference meet.
Following the conference meet, the Pack will head to Charlottesville, Va. for the 2017 NCAA Southeast Regional on Friday, Nov. 10. The top two teams at the regional meet will each receive an automatic bid for the NCAA National Championships, set for Saturday, Nov. 18 in Louisville, Ky.
Last season, the NC State men and women swept regional team titles for the first time since 2007, earning nine total All-Region honors between both teams. At the 2016 National Championships, the Pack women placed fourth in the country for their second-highest finish nationally in program history. The men's team clinched a top-25 finish at Nationals for the first time since 2011, placing 22nd overall.
