RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team will play at Rutgers on Nov. 30 in the 2017 edition of the B1G/ACC Challenge, the two league offices announced on Wednesday.
Â
The Atlantic Coast Conference has dominated the competition throughout its history, having yet to lose to the Big Ten. Aided by NC State's 84-70 victory over Indiana on Dec. 1, 2016, the ACC won last year's challenge by a 9-5 count and holds a 7-0-3 advantage in the 10 seasons of its existence.
Â
Rutgers endured a challenging 6-24 (3-13 B1G) season in 2016-17 and lost its three top scorers from a year ago. The Scarlet Knights are bolstered by three impact transfers who will be eligible to play in 2017-18: Ciani Cryor (Georgia Tech), Kathleen Fitzpatrick (St. Joseph's), and Stasha Carey (Pittsburgh). Head coach C. Vivian Stringer is entering her 23rd season at Rutgers and has posted a career coaching record of 977-390.
Â
NC State leads the series history with Rutgers by a 5-4 count. The teams last met on Nov. 26, 2005, with the Scarlet Knights earning a 66-56 victory at the Junkanoo Jam in the Bahamas. The Wolfpack has played at Rutgers just once in program history, falling 83-56 on Jan. 11, 1986.
