
Caraway, Martin Selected To All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rising sophomore Jade Caraway and recent graduate Molly Martin have been selected to the 2017 All-ACC Academic Team, as announced by the league office on Thursday.
Caraway, a Winter Garden, Fla., native, broke the program's single season records for batting average (.389) and triples (5), and tied the record for hits (72) in her rookie season. She garnered All-ACC Second Team and All-ACC Freshman Team honors after finishing fifth in the conference in batting average and leading the league in hits.
Throughout the season she tallied 22 multi-hit games, the most among the team, and was one of two underclassmen to start all 56 games at their respective position. She additionally ranked among the top 50 in the NCAA in hits and triples.
Martin, who hails from Mount Airy, N.C., wrapped up her best collegiate season on the field in 2017, posting a .215 clip while starting 46 games at second and third base. She tallied 23 hits and 21 runs in her 107 at-bats, including a career-best three doubles. She additionally belted her first career home run on March 3 at Dail Stadium against Lehigh.
Both are communication majors, as Martin graduated in May with a 3.421 cumulative grade point average.
Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 GPA for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one's academic career for undergraduate students. Athletic achievements during the most recent season are also considered in selecting the All-ACC Academic Team.
The ACC Honor Roll, which recognizes all conference student-athletes with a grade point average of 3.0 for the current academic year, will be released in July.
