Wolfpack Olympian claims national title in smallbore
FORT BENNING, Ga. – Former NC State rifle standout and 2016 Rio Olympian Lucas Kozeniesky turned in a #STATEment performance to win the national championship in the men's smallbore competition at the USA Shooting Championships Tuesday evening.

Kozeniesky, who recently graduated and has exhausted his collegiate eligibility, took the crown in the men's three position rifle event with a total score of 2344. He fired a mark of 1166 on the first day of the competition and an 1174 on day two of smallbore to own a tally of 2340 heading into the finals session.

The Fairfax Station, Va., native added four points to his cumulative score with a strong showing in the finals to claim the gold medal (2344). Kozeniesky enjoyed a very decorated career in a Wolfpack suit, as he was the program's first Olympian, owns every individual record and was a six-time All-American.

Last year, Kozeniesky won the national championship in air rifle at the USA Shooting Championships.

Current NC State team member William Marciniak competed in the 'B' class of shooters and finished second with a 2294, just four points shy of tying for the top spot. The rising junior earned a mark of 1155 on the first day and an 1139 on day two to compile his cumulative total.

In the junior competition, Marciniak took fifth place with a score of 2298, adding four points to his mark with his showing in the finals session.

Zach Eisenberg, a rising sophomore for the Pack, also competed in the competition and charted a score of 2231 with scores of 1112 and 1119.
