Wolfpack Concludes Season Ranked #17 in Both National Polls

RALEIGH – The NC State women's basketball team concludes the 2016-17 season ranked No. 17 in the nation in both the final Associated Press and USA Today polls of the season.
The Wolfpack finished the season with a 23-9 record and advanced to the Round of 32 at the 2017 NCAA Tournament. NC State led for 38:15 of a dominating first-round 62-48 win over Auburn before narrowly falling by a final score of 84-80 at then No. 14/15 Texas.
NC State won 12 games in the Atlantic Coast Conference (12-4) for the first time since 1998 and defeated four teams ranked within the national top 15 at the time of tip-off—No. 2/2 Notre Dame, at No. 6/7 Florida State, No. 12/15 Duke, and at No. 9/7 Louisville—during the year and earned multiple postseason honors. Head coach Wes Moore was named ACC Coach of the Year for the first time in school history while Miah Spencer (First Team All-ACC), Dominique Wilson (First Team All-ACC), Jennifer Mathurin (All-ACC Academic Team), and Ashley Williams (All-ACC Academic Team) were also recognized by the league office.
The Wolfpack spent 12 weeks in the national polls this season and the No. 17 finish marks the second time in Moore's four seasons that the Wolfpack has finished within the national top 17 (No. 16 in 2014).
