
Softball To Open ACC Schedule With Home Series Against Syracuse

RALEIGH - The NC State softball team is set to open its ACC schedule this weekend as it hosts Syracuse at Dail Stadium in a three game series. Due to adverse weather coming to the area, the teams will play a doubleheader Friday at 3 and 5 p.m. and one game Saturday at 2 p.m.
FAN INFORMATION
-For fans that have purchased tickets, Friday's ticket will be good for both games, and Sunday's ticket may be exchanged for a ticket to any remaining 2017 home regular season softball game, including Saturday. Tickets can be purchased here.
-All three games will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra, and live stats will be available.Â
-There will be a new construction pattern on Hillsborough Street this weekend, and fans are encouraged to take Western Blvd. More information can be found here.
PACK VS. ORANGE HISTORY
-Friday will mark the eighth time the teams have met, as NC State owns a 5-2 advantage in the all-time series. The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 6-15 season record and the Orange hold a 12-6 ledger.
-Last year the Pack split a doubleheader and dropped its final game of a weekend series at the Skytop Softball Stadium (April 16-17).
LAST TIME OUT
Highlighted by two home runs and Peyton Silverman's complete game shutout, NC State defeated George Mason, 4-0, on Tuesday evening at the George Mason Softball Complex in Fairfax, Va.
PACK YOUTH
All nine underclassmen on the Pack's roster have made game appearances this year, and four of those players have started in at least 19 of the 21 games played.
FRESHMEN MAKING AN IMPACT
-Jade Caraway leads the team in batting average (.446), at bats (65), hits (29), triples (3), total bases (39) and on base percentage (.486). These marks all rank among the top ten of the conference as she is the only player to hold three triples on the season.
-Silverman leads the Pack in the circle in innings pitched (69.1) and has struck out 51 batters this year. She's additionally pitched seven complete games, earning her first shutout on Tuesday.
-Geena Autry, Haley Finn and Haylee Kobziak have made a combined 37 game appearances and 20 starts, and Kobziak has hit two of the Pack's home runs this season.
STOLEN BASES
Senior Tyler Ross leads the team in stolen bases with 10, which also ranks fourth in the ACC. In the Pack's game at George Mason she tallied three, which is the second-highest single game mark for the left fielder. She additionally leads the team in runs with 15, which is also a top ten mark in the conference.
DOUBLE TROUBLE
-NC State recorded its ninth double play of the season on Tuesday (2b to ss to 1b), which is tied for third in the ACC.
-The team has additionally hit 22 doubles in 21 games, as Ross holds a team best five and Jessica Moore has tallied four.
ABOUT SYRACUSE
-Syracuse played in the Under Armour Invitational last weekend in its last time out. The Orange defeated Georgia State (5-2), South Florida (2-1) and Penn (7-3) but fell to Central Michigan, 3-0, in its final game of the tournament.
-Sophomore Bryce Holmgren leads the team at the plate with a .482 clip, while Sydney O'Hara and Sammy Fernandez hold batting averages of .463 and .437, respectively. As a team the Orange hold a .293 clip and are averaging 4.33 runs per game.
-In the circle O'Hara leads the pitching staff with a 1.12 earned-run average and 4-0 record, including four saves. Syracuse holds a combined ERA of 2.16.
