
Wolfpack Athletes Start Strong at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The NC State track and field team opened the Florida Relays with several impressive performances. Joshua Davis reset his hammer throw school record and Pack posted several marks in the school's top-10 lists, as well as marks that will qualify athletes for ACC and regional meets.
Hurdles:
Gabriele Cunningham opened action on the track Friday afternoon with a personal best of 13.67 in the 100m hurdles. Cunningham finished 29th overall in the event filled with professional athletes. The time remains the third fastest in school history and is now .60 faster than the fourth-fastest 100m hurdles time in school history.
Alexis Perry continued her post-collegiate track career, taking 14th in the event with a time of 13.36.
Sprints:
Cravont Charleston made the most of his 100m collegiate debut. The Charlotte, N.C., native finished 16th overall and seventh among college athletes with a wind-aided time of 10.33. After his debut, Charleston is now tied for seventh in school history in the 100m dash.
In the women's race, Cunningham added her second personal best of the day, crossing the finish line in 11.50 to finish 14th overall and eighth among college athletes. The time moves her from third to a tie for second in program's 100m standings.
On her 100m college debut, Lauren White set the ninth-fastest women's 100m dash in school history after crossing the finish line in 11.95.
In the 400m, Tiana Patillo took 40th with a time of 56.23 in the women's race. Sam Krehnbrink led the way for the men, finishing 48th with a time of 49.01. Abdur Rahmaan Kelly added a time of 49.62 for 54th place.
Throws:
In the women's hammer throw, Lauren Evans set a personal best for the second time this season with a throw of 185'5" to finish sixth overall. The mark, which has historically sent athletes to the NCAA East Preliminary, vaults her to second in school history in the event standings and is just 3' from the school record.
On the men's side, Joshua Davis set the hammer throw school record with a throw of 218'9". The throw beat his old mark by almost 10' and was enough help him finish seventh overall and fifth against college athletes.
Relays:
The men's 4x400 relay of Junpai Dowdy, Krehnbrink, Kelly and Dylan Peebles took 13th in the competition and second in their heat with a time of 3:13.44.
