Mathurin and Williams Earn ACC All-Academic Team Honors

CONWAY, S.C. – Jennifer Mathurin and Ashley Williams of the No. 17/18 NC State women's basketball team have been named to the 2016-17 Atlantic Coast Conference All-Academic Team, the league office announced Friday morning.

Williams, the 2015-16 Kay Yow ACC Scholar Athlete of the Year, is making her third appearance on the team. She was also named CoSIDA Academic All-District for the second consecutive season on Feb. 9. Classmate and fellow starter Mathurin is making her second straight appearance on the All-ACC Academic Team, as she earned similar honors last season.

The duo also recently earned ACC postgraduate scholarships, becoming two of just 54 student-athletes throughout the entire conference to do so.

ACC postgraduate scholarship recipient … Averaging 26.4 minutes, 9.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game … Has scored in double figures on 13 occasions this season … Has recorded two double-doubles this season, one of which came in the Wolfpack's win over No. 2/2 Notre Dame on Dec. 29 …  Scored a season-high 18 points in a Nov. 26 game vs. LSU … Grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds in a Dec. 17 game at Tulane … Has collected 10+ rebounds on three occasions … Tied for the team lead in charges taken with 14.

CoSIDA Academic All-District … ACC postgraduate scholarship recipient … Averaging 29.7 minutes, 8.2 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game … Has scored in double figures on nine occasions this season … Currently ranks 12th in the nation with a .436 shooting percentage from beyond the arc … Has hit three or more three-pointers in a single game 17 times this season … Scored a season-high 18 points in the win over UNC-CH on Feb. 23 on 6-10 shooting from distance … In the Wolfpack's last two games, has hit 10 threes … Tied for the team lead in charges taken with 14.

NC State has secured a double bye at the ACC Tournament and opens play in the quarterfinal round against No. 14/13 Louisville this morning at 11 a.m.
