Wolfpack earns conference win
RALEIGH—The No. 31 NC State women's tennis team swept its doubleheader on Sunday held at the J.W. Isenhour Tennis Center. The team rolled past Boston College by a final score of 6-1 to win its first conference match of the season followed by a second 6-1 win over Winthrop on the latter end of the day.
The back-to-back wins advance NC State to a season record of 12-7 (1-5 ACC).

The Wolfpack started its first match off by taking the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. No. 30 Martina Frantova and Anna Rogers defeated Kylie Wilcox and Dasha Possokhova of Boston College, 6-2, at the top doubles position while Claudia Wiktorin and Bianca Moldovan downed Lexi Borr and Emily Safron, 6-2, on court two. The Eagles' Jackie Urbinati and Asiya Dair earned a win on court three, beating Amanda Rebol and Tayla Stenta by a final score of 6-1.
In singles, Moldovan rattled off a shutout win over Elene Tsokilauri, 6-0, 6-0, on court five to give the Wolfpack a 2-0 lead. In No. 3 singles, Boston College earned its only point of the day as Wiktorin fell to Possokhova, 6-4, 6-4. From there, No. 34 Frantova took care of the Eagles' Dair on court one, 6-2, 6-2.
The team battled to its final three wins of the day, each of which were sent into three sets. In No. 4 singles, Adriana Reami dropped her first set but fought back to win sets two and three to take the match. The freshman's 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 win over Wilcox earned the match-clinching point for the Wolfpack. On court six, Rebol won her three-setter, coming out on top of Urbinati with a 0-6, 6-3, 6-4 win. Rogers wrapped up the match, outlasting the Eagles' Borr in No. 2 singles to win by a final score of 7-5, 5-7, 6-2.
The loss moves Boston College to a 7-7 (2-4 ACC) record.

In the second match of the day, the Wolfpack once again earned the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. In No. 1 doubles, the duo of Frantova and Rogers beat Winthrop's Lauren Proctor and Megan Kauffman, 6-3 while Moldovan and Wiktorin took care of Caitlin Cridland and Alisa Soloveva in No. 2 doubles, winning by a final score of 6-1. The match between NC State's Rebol and Reami and Winthrop's Alya Mourad and Aida Kelic on court three went unfinished at 5-2.
In singles play, Rogers won her sixth-straight match, toppling Winthrop's Soloveva on court two, 6-1, 6-2. Fellow freshman Reami followed suit with a win on court four as she defeated Megan Kauffman, 6-1, 6-2. Soon after, Rebol cruised to the match-winning point as she beat the Eagles' Mourad, 6-3, 6-3, on court six.
In No. 5 singles, Moldovan continued the Wolfpack's momentum, taking down Kelic to put the Wolfpack up 5-0 with a 6-3, 6-3 win. The team's final point was earned by Wiktorin who outlasted Cridland, 4-6, 6-4, 10-7. On court one, Winthrop's Proctor earned a win against Frantova by a final score of 5-7, 7-6, 10-1.
Winthrop falls to a 12-4 season record with today's loss.
Up Next
The Wolfpack will continue ACC play by traveling to South Bend, Ind., to take on No. 34 Notre Dame on Friday, March 24. The match is set to begin at 4 p.m.
