STATESBORO, Ga. – Led by incredible rounds of 67 (-5) from freshman Benjamin Shipp and senior Jacob McBride, the NC State men's golf team made a significant climb up the leaderboard at the 2017 Schenkel Invitation on Saturday afternoon, moving from 10th to third through two rounds of play at Forest Heights Country Club.

Shipp's 67 ties a career best at NC State and comes one round after he shot a 69 (-3) on Friday. He currently is tied for third in the field with a two-round total of 136 (-8). McBride jumped from 53rd on the leaderboard to 12th following his score on Saturday, and is at 142 strokes (-2) through two rounds.

Sophomore Stephen Franken dropped one stroke from his impressive 69 on Friday to shoot a 68 (-4) Saturday. He is tied for sixth in the tournament field with a 137 (-7).

As a team, NC State is tied for third with Florida and is just eight strokes behind host Georgia Southern (556, -20). The Wolfpack is sitting at 564 (-12) with one round remaining in the tournament.

Following an eagle by Franken on Friday, teammates Harrison Rhoades and McBride each eagled the par-five seventh hole Saturday. The Wolfpack is tied for the lead with three total eagles through the first two rounds of the tournament.
