
Men’s Tennis Set for ACC Opener at No. 4 North Carolina

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's tennis team will kick off Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play in Chapel Hill, N.C., on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against No. 4 North Carolina at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
NC State enters the match with a 9-6 record. The match marks the fifth this season against a team ranked in the top-25.
Pack in the Polls:
Nick Horton and Alexis Galarneau lead the team in doubles play. The duo is ranked 51st in the ITA poll and holds an 8-4 record. Horton leads the team in singles play at No. 73 in the rankings, while Galarneau is ranked 116th.
Galarneau and Georgiy Malyshev lead the team with 17 singles wins each. Galarneau holds the team's best win streak with five-straight wins.
Scouting the Tar Heels:
UNC enters Wednesday's match with a 13-2 record. The Tar Heel duo of William Blumberg and Robert Kelly is ranked No. 17 in the latest ITA poll. Ronnie Schneider leads UNC in singles rankings at No. 19 followed by Blumberg and Kelly at 61st and 123rd, in respective order. The Tar Heels are coming off a 4-3 loss to Wake Forest this past Friday.
Last Time Out:
NC State concluded its nonconference slate in Hawai'i with two wins, 6-1 and 7-0, against the Rainbow Warriors. These wins brought the Wolfpack to nine total victories for the season.
Tough Road Ahead:
The Pack will compete in the toughest tennis conference in the NCAA to close out the regular season. Currently three ACC schools are ranked in the top five and seven total schools are in the top-50 of the ITA poll.
