Senior guard carries 3.95 GPA while studying Industrial Engineering

ATLANTA – Senior guard Ashley Williams of the No. 17/17 NC State women's basketball team has been named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced Thursday afternoon.

Williams is one of five NCAA Division I players to be selected from District Three, which includes North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia. She is joined by Emma Bockrath from High Point, Lexie Brown and Rebecca Greenwell from Duke, and Morgan Jones from North Carolina Central.

The 2016 ACC Kay Yow Scholar Athlete of the Year, Williams is earning CoSIDA Academic All-District honors for the second straight season. She is currently majoring in Industrial Engineering at NC State and carries a 3.95 GPA. On the court, Williams has started all 23 games this season and is scoring 7.7 points per game on .406 shooting from beyond the arc, a success rate which ranks her within the top 50 shooters in the country.

Williams and the Wolfpack conclude a three-game ACC road trip at Georgia Tech Thursday evening at 7 p.m.
