
Wolfpack Track Opens Weekend at Camel City, VT Elite

The NC State track and field team began its weekend with impressive results at both the Camel City Invite and the VT Elite meet Friday night.
Camel City:
The Wolfpack women nearly swept the podium finishing first, second and fourth in the 5,000m, while the men logged top-six finishes in the same event at the Camel City Invitational.
Competing unattached, Beth Taye ran to a wire-to-wire victory, crossing the finish line in 16:53.70. Bianca Bishop followed closely behind 17:19.73 for second and Rebekah Greengrass finished fourth in 17:33.24.
On the men's side, Kyle Christ took fourth in 15:17.10 and Zack Langston finished sixth overall in 15:27.06.
VT Elite:
Sprints:
Nyheim Hines and Shannon Patterson both won their heats to advance to the 60m finals. Hines ran his fastest race of the meet in the final finishing third with a time of 6.84. He crossed the finish line just behind the Tennessee duo in both the prelims and finals. Patterson took seventh in the finals with a time of 7.06.
On the women's side, both Gabriele Cunningham and Paisley Simmons advanced to the finals of the 60m dash. Cunningham ran a meet-high 7.47 to finish second overall in the prelims, while Simmons set her fastest time of the night at 7.60.
In the 400m dash, Tiana Patillo took fourth overall, running a season-high 56.68. On the men's side, Junpai Dowdy set a personal best in the 400m, running 48.74 to win his heat and finish sixth overall.
Throws:
Joshua Davis finished second in the weight throw with toss of 67'8.25". Davis has now finished top three in all six of his competitions this season. The redshirt junior is currently seventh in the NCAA standings with a school record of 71'7.25".
Jumps:
In the women's long jump, Lauren White and Nicole Teague both jumped 17'6.25" to finish sixth and eighth, respectively, while Imari McLean took ninth with a leap of 17'6.00"
On the men's side, Grant Rivers jumped 20'9.25" to finish 10th overall.
