
Pack Falls at RV South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The NC State men's tennis team dropped a tough match to South Carolina, who is currently receiving votes in the ITA national poll. The Gamecocks won the match 6-1 and improved to a perfect 8-0 on the season.
South Carolina is on a tear to start the season and has only lost three match points all season. The team is led by three singles players ranked in the top-125 of the ITA singles poll.
NC State is now 6-4 on the season.
The Gamecocks took the doubles point with victories on courts two and three. Nick Horton and Alexis Galarneau moved up to the top doubles spot and won their sixth match of the dual season to improve to a team-high 6-1.
In singles play, South Carolina picked up straight-set wins at the first, fourth, fifth and sixth spots in the lineup.
Igor Saveljic moved up to the No. 2 singles spot and took on Harrison O'Keefe, but fell in the third-set tiebreak.
No. 68 Horton downed South Carolina's top-ranked singles player, No. 107 Thomas Mayronne from the No. 3 singles spot with a 7-5, 6-3 victory. The win moves him to 74 singles wins and puts him one win away from a tie for 8th on the all-time singles win list in NC State history. Horton has now defeated two nationally ranked singles players this season.
