In first RPI, eights are ranked with four in top-10 and Jack at #1 at 141 pounds

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NCAA released the second of four coaches' panel rankings for the 2016-17 wrestling season and the first release of the RPI.
All 10 NC State starters are ranked in the coaches' panel (the top-33 at each weight class), the only ACC school to have each of its starters ranked.

The Wolfpack has eight ranked in the first RPI, with four in the top-10 including junior Kevin Jack at No. 1 at 141 pounds. Sean Fausz (125 pounds) and Thomas Bullard (157) were not ranked because they do not have the minimum of 17 Division I matches to be eligible for a ranking.

The final rankings will be one of the tools used as part of the selection process to determine the qualifiers for the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. This year's event is March 16-18 at Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Wrestlers in each weight class will be measured by winning percentage, rating percentage index (RPI) and coaches' rankings to earn spots in their qualifying tournaments for the 2017 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. The coaches' rankings are compiled by a vote of coaches representing each qualifying tournament.
