Despite starters Jennifer Mathurin (13 points, 10 rebounds) and Chelsea Nelson (11 points, 10 rebounds) recording double-doubles, the Wolfpack was beaten by a school-record tying UNC-CH performance from beyond the arc, in which the Tar Heels shot 14-24 (.583) from distance. NC State cut into the UNC-CH lead on multiple occasions in the second half, but the Wolfpack was unable to overcome the Tar Heels' 9-13 (.692) success rate from distance during the game's final 20 minutes.
