Hidlay Named ACC Wrestler of the Week

RALEIGH, N.C. – Redshirt-freshman Hayden Hidlay was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week after leading the Wolfpack to a 34-3 road win over Appalachian State last Sunday in Boone, N.C.

Hidlay, from Lewistown, Pa., wrestling at 157 pounds, pinned Laken Cook of Appalachian State at the 6:29 mark of their bout. The fall gave the Wolfpack a 9-0 lead after two matches and set the tone for the win over the Mountaineers. Hidlay was already up 18-4 at the time of the pin.

Hidlay is 7-0 on the season and each of his wins have resulted in bonus points in dual matches. With the win, Hidlay vaulted into a No. 16 national ranking by InterMat this week in his weight class.

Hidlay is the second NC State wrestler to be honored this season. Senior Kevin Jack was named Co-ACC Wrestler of the Week after the first week of the season.
