Â
RALEIGH – Reigning Atlantic Coast Conference Coach of the Year Wes Moore and the NC State women's basketball team picked up a strong commitment on the second day of the early signing period Thursday, as Jada Rice signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Wolfpack beginning with the 2018-19 season.

Jada Rice | 6-4 Post | Suwanee, Ga. | Collins Hill High School
Sitting No. 57 nationally in the class of 2018 Prospects Nation rankings and 12th at her position, Jada Rice joins the Wolfpack as a 6-4 post player from Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Ga.
Â
During her most recent junior season, Rice played an important role for a Collins Hill team that posted a strong 25-5 record en route to making the final four of the 2017 Georgia 7A High School State Championship.
Â
Wes Moore (NC State head coach): "Jada Rice is someone who has the great combination of length and athleticism. I think her best days are ahead of her and she has a very high ceiling. She is going to be able to run the floor and score on the block, and I think we are going to be able to expand her game as we go. Initially, she gives us depth inside and with her athleticism, I think she will be able to get to the rim and finish. She can also score in transition and defensively she will be able to match up pretty well with a "4" or a "5" because of her length and speed. She is another player who really fills a need beginning next year."
Â
Keil Moore (National recruiting analyst for ProspectsNation): "During her time as a prep prospect, Jada Rice has earned a reputation as one of the most talented posts in the country. She has a great set of tools: size, athleticism, and a high basketball IQ."
Â
Bret McCormick (Talent evaluator & publisher of All Star Girls Report): "Great athlete. Strong low-post finisher with a great motor. Tremendous rebounder with a high-energy game."
Â
This news comes one day after NC State officially announced the addition of post player Elissa Cunane on Wednesday.
Â
Thoughts on the Class
Keil Moore (National recruiting analyst for ProspectsNation): "NC State is adding two of the country's premier frontcourt players in its 2017 signing class. The combination of Elissa Cunane and Jada Rice will give the ACC program interior scoring, offensive versatility, and the ability to compete on the offensive and defensive glass with any team in the conference."
Â
Bret McCormick (Talent evaluator & publisher of All Star Girls Report): "Coach Wes Moore at NC State has really impacted his front court. Cunane and Rice provide size and power. They both play with high motors and have versatility on both sides of the ball. They will both be tough matchups for all opponents. The future is bright for the Wolfpack."
Â
NC State officially opens the 2017-18 season at home on Friday, November 10 when Jacksonville comes to town. Tip-off between the Wolfpack and Dolphins is scheduled for 5 p.m. with live video coverage provided by ACC Network Extra.
