RALEIGH – NC State women's soccer head coach Tim Santoro and his staff have announced the addition of Ohio State transfer Courtney Walker to the program. She will enroll in the 2018 spring semester and be eligible to train with the team immediately.
Walker decided to transfer before using any playing time in the 2017 season at Ohio State, so will have four years of eligibility with the Wolfpack.
"Adding a player like Courtney mid-year to our already potent attack is exciting," said Santoro. "With her athleticism and knack for scoring, she'll give us a needed threat to get behind teams faster and produce goals in another way."
She is a native of Waxhaw, N.C., and trained with the Carolina Rapids under the direction of head coach Nathan Williams. A 2016 USYSA National Championship Best 11 member, Walker helped the Rapids to the North Carolina and USYSA Region III State and Regional Championships, along with an appearance in the USYSA National Championship semifinals.
She additionally received an invitation to the U18 US National Team camp and helped her squad to a US Club Soccer national title in 2015.
At Cuthbertson High School she was a three-year letter winner, leading the Cavaliers in scoring twice en route to all-state honors in 2015 and all-region and all-conference in 2014 and '15. She also set the school single-season goals record in 2015.
Walker comes from a soccer family as her father, Edmund, played soccer at Xavier and her mother, Kara, played at Cincinnati. One of her two older sisters, Brandi, plays soccer at North Florida.
