
Men's Golf Set to Host Wolfpack Intercollegiate

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State men's golf team returns to action this week when it hosts the Wolfpack Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
The tournament features 14 teams and 11 individual players. The event opens on Monday morning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Play will be continuous on Monday as the players will play 36 holes. The third and final round will be held on Tuesday.

Format: 54 holes (36-18)
Tee Times: Shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. with continuous play for two rounds. The Pack will start on holes 1-3 on Monday morning.

2017 Fall Season
NC State has competed in two tournaments this fall, finishing in fifth place out of 16 teams at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate in its season-opener and winning the 15-team Golfweek Conference Challenge, held in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two weeks ago. The tournament victory is the Pack's 55th all-time and the first since winning the Wolfpack Spring Open earlier this year in April. The tournament victory was the first for NC State away from Lonnie Poole Golf Course since winning the USF Invitational in March of 2013. Benjamin Shipp won the Golfweek Conference Challenge individual title with a three-round score of 10-under-par.
NC STATE LINEUP
1 – Benjamin Shipp: Shipp was a PING All-Region Team selection after a solid freshman debut for the Wolfpack. He competed in 11 tournaments and 32 total rounds as a freshman, averaging 72 strokes per round to rank third on the team. He earned six top-20 finishes and had four top-10 results. He shot rounds of 67 on four different occasions.
2 – Stephen Franken: Franken was a PING All-Region and All-ACC Team selection last season. He competed in all 12 tournaments for the Pack. He finished first on the team in stroke average. His 71.17 strokes per round average was the fourth lowest in program history. He recorded eight top-20 finishes and had six top-10 results
3 – Easton Paxton: Paxton is the lone freshmen on NC State's roster this season and made his Pack debut two weeks ago at the Golfweek Conference Challenge. The four-time US Junior qualifier was also a four-time Wyoming individual state champion while in high school at Riverton.
4 – Christian Salzar: Salzar competed in six tournaments and 17 total rounds during his freshman season. He averaged 74.4 strokes per round and had one top-10 finish on the year.
5 – Nolan Mills: Mills competed in 12 tournaments as a sophomore last season. He ranked fifth on the team in stroke average at 73.1 per round. He claimed medalist honors twice. He won the 2017 Wolfpack Spring Open with a three-round score of 200, shooting 66-67-67 and also claimed top honors at the Barton Intercollegiate.
NC STATE PLAYERS COMPETING AS INDIVIDUALS
Dwight Cauthen: Cauthen competed in five tournament and had 14 official rounds during his freshmen season at NC State last season. He had a season average of 75.9 strokes per round. He recorded two top-20 finishes and one top-10 result in his rookie season.
Justin Hood: Hood competed in six tournaments and 18 rounds as a sophomore last season for the Pack. He averaged 74.3 strokes per round and finished with two top-20 finishes and one top-10 finish.
Harrison Rhoades: Rhoades was an All-ACC Academic Team selection last season. He competed in nine tournaments and 26 rounds during the 2017 spring season after transferring to NC State from Georgetown. He ranked fourth on the team with a stroke average of 73.0 per round and earned three top-20 and one top-10 finish on the season.
