
NC State Defeats ECU, 2-0

GREENVILLE, N.C. – The NC State women's soccer team picked up a, 2-0, victory at ECU on Thursday night with goals from Tziarra King and Michaella van Maanen. The Wolfpack improves to 5-2-0 with the win and has won four straight matches and posted its second straight shutout.
NC State outshot the Pirates, 10-9, and held a, 4-0, advantage in corner kicks. The defense limited the Pirates to just three shots on goal and Sydney Wootten earned three saves in her second-straight shutout.
Match Recap:
ECU produced a strong first half and limited the Wolfpack attack. Both teams entered halftime with six shots, and a, 0-0, score line.
NC State had its best chance of the half in the 20th minute after Ricarda Walkling directed a free kick off the bar, and Kia Rankin's follow up attempt went high.
ECU had a one-on-one attempt of its own, but keeper Sydney Wootten produced a huge save to keep the Pirates off the board in the 42nd minute.
After halftime, NC State broke the deadlock just seven minutes into the second half when Hannah Keogh connected with King from a set piece. Keogh hit a ball into the box from a free kick. The pass found King's foot and rocketed across the face of goal and into the right side of the net.

The goal was King's fourth of the season and second in as many matches, while Keogh earned her third assist of the season and second in in as many matches.
The Pack gained control during the second half and limited the Pirates in possession and attack. NC State struck again with 36 seconds remaining in the contest to ice the match.
van Maanen scored her third goal of the season after cutting inside and curling a left-footed strike over the keeper and into the upper 90 portion of the net. Rankin earned the assist on the play, slotting van Maanen in after winning the ball in the Pirate's half.

NC State will close out its non-conference schedule when it returns home for a Sunday match against Gardner Webb. The match is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium.
