RALEIGH, N.C. - Kristina Schuster has been named to Top Draw Soccer's Sep. 20th Team of the Week and goalie Sydney Wootten has been selected as an honorable mention on the team.
Schuster was excellent on the backline in the Pack's win over No. 7 North Carolina. The former Bayern Munich youth player locked down the right side on the defensive line and got wide in the attack to relieve pressure off the backline.
Schuster has started all nine contests for the Pack this season and has spent time at both left and right back. She is currently tied for the team lead with four assists.
Wootten, who recently earned ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors, tallied eight saves in the win over UNC. She extended her shutout streak to four consecutive games and has gone 425 minutes without conceding a goal.
The two were key in helping the Pack defeat the No. 7 Tar Heels. The victory is the biggest win over a ranked opponent since it took down the No. 1 North Carolina squad in 2002. It also marked the Pack's first victory ever at Fetzer Field and the second career win for the Pack over the Heels.
NC State returns to action Thursday night when it faces No. 20 Notre Dame at 7 p.m. at Dail Soccer Stadium.
