NC State Athletes Reflect on 2016 Olympics Experience

Wolfpack had five student-athletes compete in Olympics
NC State Athletics had a record five student-athletes qualify and participate in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Four members of the swimming and diving team earned the honor, while one representative from the rifle team took part in the event.

Wolfpack Athletes to Compete in 2016 Olympics
Rifle
Lucas Kozeniesky
Fairfax Station, Va.
Sr.
- Kozeniesky represented the United States in the 10m men's air rifle competition and finished 21st in the event, firing the top American score.

Swimming
Simonas Bilis
Panevezys, Lithuania
Graduate
- Bilis competed in three events, highlighted by an eighth-place finish in the 50m freestyle. He additionally finished 30th in the 100m free and helped Lithuania's 4x100m medley relay team finish 14th in the event standings.

Soren Dahl
Copenhagen, Denmark
Sr.
- Dahl competed for Denmark, helping the 4x200m freestyle relay team take 13th.

Anton Ipsen
Birkerod, Denmark
Jr.
- Ipsen earned top-20 finishes in the 400m and 1500m free, while also competing for Denmark.

Ryan Held
Springfield, Ill.
Jr.
- Held was a member of Team USA's 4x100 freestyle relay that won gold in Rio. He swam the third leg of the event with Caeleb Dressel, Michael Phelps and Nathan Adrian.
