RALEIGH, N.C. – Following a successful 2015 campaign, the NC State men's and women's cross country teams have both landed in the national USTFCCCA Preseason Poll. The Wolfpack women are ranked No. 5 and the men enter the year ranked No. 30.
The Wolfpack will return strong, experienced runners for both squads.
The women's team will return six of their top seven from the NCAA Championships, including seniors Erika Kemp, Kaitlyn Kramer and Megan Moye.

For the men, senior Sam Parsons, who finished 63rd at the NCAA Championships last year, is expected to lead the team once again, along with experienced juniors Bakri Abushouk and Sebastian Hanson.

In the regional rankings, the women's team has been selected as the 2016 favorite, topping Virginia, the 2015 regional meet champions.
On the men's side, the Wolfpack was picked fifth amongst the deep region. This matches their performance from last year's competition, which advanced them to the 2015 NCAA Championships. NC State landed ahead of fellow ACC teams Virginia Tech, North Carolina, and Duke, who were ranked sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.
The team is slated to compete in their first competition on Friday, September 16th as they host the adidas XC Challenge in Cary, N.C.
