NC State Downs Navy, 4-1

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State women's soccer team dominated Navy for a 4-1 victory in its home opener. The Pack's offense set the tempo and commanded the match, as Tziarra King (2), Taylor Porter and Ricarda Walkling all scored.
Walkling, Hannah Keogh, Michaella van Maanen and Jackie Stengel also found the scoresheet with each contributing an assist in the attacking showcase.
NC State improves to 2-2-0 on the season, while Navy falls to 0-3-1. The Wolfpack maintains its perfect record against Navy, improving to 4-0-0 all time.
NC State played an attack-minded style and held a possession advantage. The Pack had a 17-4 shot advantage, placing 10 shots on frame. The Wolfpack defense also stood tall, as it limited Navy to just two attempts on target.
Match Recap:
It didn't take long for the Pack to score, as Porter headed in a goal in the eighth minute. Keogh lobbed a ball over the Navy defense, and Porter headed the ball past the keeper for her first goal of the season. The Pack piled pressure on the Navy defense, building up a 10-2 shot advantage by halftime.
NC State continued its offensive clinic after halftime and scored just 1:30 into the second half. King scored the first goal of her career with an unassisted blast from 18 yards out. Her shot cannoned past the diving keeper, hit the post and went into the back of the net.
She added her second just five minutes later. Walkling started the play, as she worked her way down the right side and passed to Stengel in the box. Stengel crossed it left to the approaching King, who hit it first time into the roof of the net to extend NC State's lead to, 3-0, in the 51st minute.
The Pack pushed forward throughout the match and was able to give 18 players minutes in the match. Freshman goalkeeper Grayson Cameron checked in and played out the final 10 minutes.
NC State opened the Navy defense for the final time in the 88th minute. Van Maanen passed the ball to Walkling who sliced through the defense, cut left and fired a shot into the right side of goal.
Navy stuck back right after, as it ended the shutout with a goal in the 89th minute. Clare Macadam scored from 20 yards out with a well-placed shot that found the inside of the left post.
