BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP, Mich. – Rising sophomore Stephen Franken of the NC State men's golf team tied for 11th in the field of 312 golfers at the 116th U.S. Amateur on Tuesday. With his strong finish, the Raleigh native has advanced to the match play round of the competition, which is set to begin Wednesday morning.

Franken finished -2 for the tournament with a two-round score of 138. He carded an even-par 70 Monday on the North Course at Oakland Hills Country Club before shooting a 68 Tuesday on the South Course.

Just one of 64 players to advance, Franken will match up against Hunter Shattuck of Baylor Wednesday morning at 10:40 a.m. Fox Sports One will provide television coverage of the U.S. Amateur match play round beginning at 3 p.m. ET.
