
Iyevbele, Perry Open Action at Olympic Trials

EUGENE, Ore. – Kenyetta Iyevbele and Alexis Perry were the first Wolfpack representatives to compete at the USATF Olympic Trials. Iyevbele took fifth in her heat and 27th overall in the 800m with a time of 2:04.98, and Perry finished 13th in long jump qualifying with a leap of 21'2.50".
800m:
Iyevbele had a strong opening 400m of 1:01.74. The Charlotte, N.C., native remained in the middle of the heat and closed the final 400m in 1:03.24. She concludes her first-ever Olympic Trials 27th overall in the 800m. The meet marks Iyevbele's second consecutive 800m appearance at the USA Championships.
Long Jump:
Perry landed a strong second jump of 21'2.50" to clinch the top-15 finish in the competition. She added a third jump of 20'11.75" on her final attempt. Her second mark sealed 13th place for the Durham, N.C., native.
Perry will have plenty of track action left, as she competes in the 100m hurdles Thursday, July 7th and the NACAC u23 Championships in the long jump later in July.
