RALEIGH, N.C. - NC State Athletics cordially invites Wolfpack Nation to the Reynolds Coliseum Grand Reopening Gala on Friday, September 16. The event will be headlined by the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2016.
Tickets are $75 for adults and $30 for kids 17 and under, and can be purchased HERE.
Reynolds Coliseum doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for guests to enjoy heavy hors d'oeuvres and cocktails while experiencing the new NC State Athletic Walk of Fame & History. The ribbon cutting ceremony and Class of 2016 inductions will take place on stage in the arena at 8 p.m. Following the program, a dessert reception that will include autographs from the new Hall of Fame inductees will be held at 9 p.m.
For many, it will be the first time to walk the refurbished facility, which has been undergoing a $35 million renovation since March 2015. Â
The competition floor has shifted a full half-court to the south end and seating capacity has been reduced from 8,300 to 6,000 to provide an intimate home court environment. New hospitality areas, restrooms, concessions, merchandise stands and other amenities await fans. All building systems have been overhauled, including the addition of new LED sport lighting. In May, air conditioning was turned on for the first time in the 67-year history of storied arena.
Adjacent to the iconic north lobby, the first third of the arena has been transformed into the Grand Hall and the heart of the new NC State Athletics Walk of Fame & History. Exhibits celebrating the rich history and tradition of Wolfpack athletics flow throughout the concourses of the arena. Â
In addition to the Gala celebrating the grand reopening of the building, the 2016 Hall of Fame Class will be honored, headlined by the 1974 national champion men's basketball team, football and swimming and diving standout Dick Christy, U.S. lacrosse Hall of Famer Stan Cockerton, swimming and diving coaching great Don Easterling, women's basketball's Linda Page, and multi-sport athlete Dave Robertson. Complete bios for the class are available by clicking here.
Established in 2012, the NC State Athletic Hall of Fame inducted 10-member classes in 2012, '13 and '14. The Class of 2016 and future classes are limited to six members, while also beginning the tradition of biennial inductions (every other year; each even year). Nominations for the Class of 2018 are being accepted through March 1, 2017 and can be submitted online by clicking here.
The Gala festivities on Sept. 16 will also include the unveiling of Coaches Corner, an initiative of NC State Student Government to honor the accomplishments, history and traditions that NC State's most admired coaches contributed to the Wolfpack community. Statues of NC State coaching legends Kay Yow, Jim Valvano, Everett Case and Norm Sloan will be on display outside Reynolds Coliseum in the newly expanded promenade between the arena and Talley Student Union.
As the renovation of historic Reynolds Coliseum nears completion this summer, Wolfpack Nation is encouraged to make plans to attend this signature event on September 16.
