RALEIGH- Donna Woolard, known as "Miss Donna" to generations of Wolfpack football players, has been honored for her outstanding service with an NC State Award for Excellence. The honor celebrates the efforts of high-performing staff members in each of the university's colleges and units.
Â
Woolard has been a part of the Wolfpack family for over 20 years, and volunteered for 12 years before that. She has raised over $1 million for the Student Aid Association.
Â
The university's website decribes her as, "continuously uplifting and encouraging to all and always has a smile on her face. Her public service in and outside of the office is truly amazing, as is her dedication to helping student-athletes succeed."
Â
In December, Woolard was the recipient of the football program's "Wolfpack Spirit" Award," which is given annually to a special supporter of the football program.
Â
"Donna is always cheerful – whether it's a friendly greeting when we walk in the building, or a little help when somebody is late picking up parking passes," said head football coach Dave Doeren. "She does the jobs that nobody else wants to do, but does them with a smile."
Â
At the annual Football Alumni Reunion in April, former Wolfpack players surprised Miss Donna with a gift of over $3,000 that they raised to show their appreciation for her support and dedication.
