
Wolfpack Earns Bid to NCAA Championship

NC State women's tennis will compete in first round at Auburn Regional
CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - In its second season under head coach Simon Earnshaw, the No. 36 NC State women's tennis team will compete in NCAA Regional play. The Wolfpack will face Arizona State in the first round of play at the Auburn Regional located in Auburn, Ala., May 13.
This is the team's first NCAA outing since competing in first-round play during the 2013 postseason.
Despite its youth, the Wolfpack achieved program history during the 2016 season. Not only did it manage a national team ranking of as high as No. 31, but also collected six wins over conference opponents to establish a program record.

Along with six conference victories the Red and White also netted six wins over nationally-ranked opponents highlighted by an upset of No. 24 Syracuse and a 5-2 win over No. 27 Wake Forest to close out the home slate.

UPDATE: Martina Frantova was selected to compete in the 2016 NCAA Singles Championship during singles and doubles selections on Wednesday afternoon. She becomes the fourth player in program history to earn a bid in the individual field of 64. NCAA Championship singles and doubles play is set to begin May 25 in Tulsa, Okla., following the conclusion of the team championship which will compete May 19-24.
