
Raymond Harrison Named Senior Associate Athletic Director

Harrison arrives at NC State after stints at Texas A&M and South Carolina
RALEIGH, N.C. - Raymond Harrison has been named Senior Associate Athletic Director at NC State, Director of Athletics Debbie Yow announced today.
Harrison joins the Wolfpack after spending the last three years as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Services at Texas A&M.
Among his responsibilities at NC State will be oversight of selected Olympic Sports, as well as the Pack Performance Team, consisting of sports medicine, strength and conditioning, nutrition, sports psychology, student-athlete enhancement, housing and dining. He will report to the Director of Athletics.
A member of both the senior staff and intercollegiate athletics cabinet, Harrison will also oversee the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and related initiatives. Â
"My family and I are excited about this next chapter, and I look forward to joining the team at NC State," said Harrison. "There are high expectations in the department, and I welcome the opportunity to contribute to the future success of NC State student-athletes, coaches and staff." Â
Harrison joined Texas A&M in January 2013 and oversaw the athletics department's student-athlete services division, including academic support, life skills and community outreach. He also coordinated the department's Performance Triangle Team, consisting of strength and conditioning, sports medicine and nutrition.

During his time in College Station, Harrison served as the sport administrator for the football and men's and women's track and field, and cross country programs and was the department's liaison to faculty and student affairs, including the department of student life and student counseling services.
Harrison led the department's implementation of a comprehensive life skills program committed to the holistic development and well-being of student athlete. Â
Harrison was been involved in the development and operation of several new facilities and programs that provide support for student-athletes, including the Slocum Nutrition Center, the West Campus Player Development Center, and the new Student Services Center in the Bright Complex.
At the national level, Harrison is a member of the NCAA Committee on Academics and serves as a faculty member for the N4A Professional Development Institute. He also participated in the 1A Athletic Director Institute. Harrison was involved in the development of the athletics department strategic planning initiative, chairing the student-athlete wellness component.
Prior to his time at Texas A&M, Harrison was Senior Associate Athletics Director at the University of South Carolina. While in Columbia, Harrison played a key role in the development of the 40,000 square foot Dodie Anderson Academic Enrichment Center. In addition to oversight of the academic programs, Harrison served as liaison to University legal counsel, office of student conduct and University law enforcement while supervising three sports programs.
Harrison spent six years at the University of Louisville as the Associate Director of Academics and the Assistant Strength Coach for men's basketball.
Harrison is a former football student-athlete at the University of Cincinnati where he graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts (1997) and a Master's of Education (2004).
The Chicago native and his wife, Jamala, have two sons, Emil and Evan.
