MANHEIM, Pa. -- NC State wrestling's Sean Fausz, Nick Gwiazdowski and Pete Renda have been named to the Division I All-Academic Team, announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
Awarded annually, the NWCA All-Academic team is comprised of 123 student-athletes. For the second consecutive year, half of the Division I champions made the team, while two additional runner-ups were included. In all, 36 All-Americans were All-Academic selections, which is up from last year's 28.
Â
Of the 123, 108 of the student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Division I championships, up from 96 in 2014-15.
Gwiazdowski garnered a spot on the team for the fourth time in as many seasons of competition (Redshirted in 2012-13), while Renda collected his second consecutive mention and Fausz secured his first honor.
Gwiazdowski fell just short of his quest to three-peat as the NCAA National Champion at 285 pounds, claiming NCAA runner-up after winning the event in 2015 and 2014. Renda also turned in a stellar season, culminating with All-America honors and a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships. Fausz also qualified for NCAAs after finishing second at the ACC Championship.
