Bilis to represent Lithuania in 50 and 100m freestyle
TORONTO, Canada- Senior Simonas Bilis continued to create Wolfpack swimming history over the weekend, as he punched his ticket to the 2016 Olympic Games in the 50 and 100m freestyle for Lithuania.
The Panevezys, Lithuania, native, is the first Wolfpacker to officially earn a berth to Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Bilis, who traveled to the Canadian Olympic and Para Swimming Trials this week in an attempt to earn a bid, swam a time of 48.64 in the 100m free on Friday to place third in the event prelims. He additionally notched a Lithuanian record and the 16th-fastest mark in the world for 2016 inside the Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
On Sunday he proceeded to post a mark of 22.10 in the 50m free to post the 10th-fastest mark in the world in the event, and notch the fastest time among the field to tab his second Olympic 'A' standard.
