Wolfpack Drops Game One Against No. 9 Florida State

Burroughs, Hutchison tally RBI singles in the contest
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The ninth-ranked Florida State Seminoles used a four-run fourth inning to pull away from NC State en route to a 10-2 win in game one of the series Friday evening at JoAnne Graf Field.

The Wolfpack falls to 17-22 and 3-7 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, while the Seminoles improve to 29-4 and 8-1 in league action.

The Rundown
- Florida State struck first in the contest with a run in the bottom of the first to grab a 1-0 lead after an RBI single Jessica Warren.
- The ninth-ranked Seminoles tacked on an unearned run in the second thanks to an error by the Wolfpack to extend their advantage to 2-0.
- NC State countered in the top of the third with a pair of runs to knot the score at two.
- Alyssa Compton started the inning with an infield single and moved over to third base as Tyler Ross reached on an error.
- Molly Hutchison and Meredith Burroughs each followed with an RBI single up the middle, as Compton and Ross scored.
- Florida State countered in the bottom of the inning with a few runs to retake a 4-2 lead.
- The Seminoles pulled away from the Wolfpack with four runs in the fourth to extends their lead to 8-2, thanks in large part to a three-run homer by Warren.
- FSU added two runs in the bottom of the sixth to stretch its lead to 10-2 and earn the run-rule victory.
